6 January, 2026, Kolkata. Bigul Mazdoor Dasta took the campaign against the Four Labour Codes at Karunamayee Bus Terminus that has many private and public sector buses operating from there. Volunteers talked to the bus drivers, operation staff, passengers, auto and e-rickshaw drivers as well as many standing at the nearby roadside eateries about the urgency of opposing the Labour Codes. Volunteers found out that many people are not even aware that such Codes have been turned into law which amounts to a systematic assault on the labour rights. Volunteers cited examples from the codes, such as how social security has been kept away from a vast majority of the masses, how the provision of fixed term employment has fully systematised contract work instead of moving in the direction of dismantling it, etc. Volunteers mentioned that now is the time for urgent united action by the entire working class and launch an indefinite strike. Campaign against the Four Labour Codes will continue in Kolkata in the coming days.
