జనవరి 30, 31, ఫిబ్రవరి 1,2 తారీకుల్లో కేంద్రంలోని బీజేపీ ప్రభుత్వం తీసుకువచ్చిన లేబర్ కోడ్లకు వ్యతిరేకంగా విజయవాడ, విశాఖపట్నం మజ్దూర్ బిగుల్ కార్యకర్తలు గిగ్, ప్లాట్ఫామ్ వర్కర్ల మధ్య ప్రచారం నిర్వహించారు. కనీస హక్కుల కోసం వారు చేస్తున్న పోరాటాలకి మద్దతు తెలియజేశారు.
ఈ నాలుగు లేబర్ కోడ్లు అసంఘటిత రంగ కార్మికులకు, ముఖ్యంగా గిగ్ వర్కర్లకు ఇంతవరకూ లేని హక్కులు కల్పిస్తాయని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం డంభాలు పలుకుతోంది. కానీ గిగ్ వర్కర్లు కనీసమైన కార్మిక హక్కులు పొందేందుకు అవసరమైన కార్మికుల హోదాను కూడా ఈ లేబర్ కోడ్లు వారికి ఇవ్వలేదన్నారు.కార్మిక హోదా గురించి ఏమీ మాట్లాడకుండా గిగ్ మరియు ప్లాట్ ఫామ్ కార్మికులకు సంక్షేమ నిధిని ఏర్పాటు చేస్తామని కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం చెబుతోంది. అయితే ఆ నిధి ఏర్పాటుకు అవసరమయ్యే డబ్బును కంపెనీల నుండి వసూలు చేయడం లేదని, ప్రభుత్వమే ఆ బాధ్యత తీసుకుందన్నారు. అంటే, మన నుండే వసూలు చేసిన పన్నులతో మనకే సంక్షేమ నిధి ఏర్పాటు చేస్తారట! ఈ రకంగా కార్మికుల సంక్షేమం పట్ల ఉండే బాధ్యతల నుండి ప్లాట్ ఫామ్ కంపెనీల యాజమాన్యాలను తప్పించి ప్రభుత్వం వారిని బంధ విముక్తులను చేసింది. మరోవైపు గిగ్ వర్కర్లకు ఉద్దేశ్యపూర్వకంగానే కార్మిక హోదా ఇవ్వకుండా వారిని అన్ని హక్కులకూ దూరం చేసింది.
ఈ రకంగా గిగ్ వర్కర్లతో సహా అన్ని రంగాల కార్మికులనూ ప్రభావితం చేయనున్న లేబర్ కోడ్లకు వ్యతిరేకంగా జరిగే పోరాటంలో భాగం కావాలని బిగుల్ కార్యకర్తలు గిగ్ వర్కర్లకు విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు. ఈ నేపథ్యంలోనే లేబర్ కోడ్లకు వ్యతిరేకంగా సెంట్రల్ ట్రేడ్ యూనియన్లు ఫిబ్రవరి 12న సార్వత్రిక సమ్మెకు పిలుపునిచ్చాయన్నారు. అయితే ప్రయివేటీకరణ, కాంట్రాక్టీకరణ విధానాలకు వ్యతిరేకంగా గత ముప్పాయ్యళ్ళుగా చేసిన ఒకట్రెండ్రోజుల సమ్మెలు విఫలమయ్యాయని, ఇప్పుడు కూడా ఒకరోజు సమ్మె వల్ల అనుకున్న పరిష్కారం లభించదని వివరించారు. కార్మికుల భవిష్యత్తును అంధకారం చేసేందుకు, యాజమానుల దోపిడీని తీవ్రతరం చేసేందుకు ఉద్దేశించిన నాలుగు లేబర్ కోడ్లను కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం వెనక్కి తీసుకునేవరకు సమ్మె చేయాలన్నారు. నిరవధిక సార్వత్రిక సమ్మె ఒక్కటే లేబర్ కోడ్లను వెనక్కి కొట్టగలదన్నారు. అటువంటి సమ్మె కోసం జరిగే ప్రయత్నాలలో భాగం కావాలని మజ్దూర్ బిగుల్ కార్యకర్తలు గిగ్ వర్కర్లకు పిలుపునిచ్చారు.

The central government boasts that the four Labour Codes provide unprecedented rights to workers in the unorganised sector, especially gig workers. However, the activists pointed out that these Labour Codes do not even recognize gig workers as “workers,” which is essential for them to secure even minimum rights.
Without uttering a word about recognizing them as workers, the central government claims it will set up a welfare fund for gig and platform workers. However, the activists explained, the money required for this fund is not being collected from the companies; instead, the government itself is taking on that responsibility. In other words, a welfare fund for workers will be created using taxes collected from the very same workers! In this way, the government has freed the managements of the platform companies from their responsibility towards workers’ welfare, effectively granting them immunity. At the same time, by deliberately denying gig workers worker status, the latter have been kept away from all rights.
Mazdoor Bigul activists appealed to gig workers to become part of the struggle against the Labour Codes, given their effect on workers in all sectors, including gig workers. In this context, they noted that the central trade unions have called for a general strike on February 12 against the Labour Codes. However, they explained that one-day strikes carried out over the past three decades against privatisation and contractualisation policies have failed, and even now a one-day strike will not bring the desired solution. They pointed out that an indefinite general strike alone can guarantee the withdrawal of the four Labour Codes, which are intended to lead the workers into a dark future and intensify their exploitation by capitalists. They asserted that only an indefinite general strike can defeat the Labour Codes. Mazdoor Bigul activists called upon gig workers to be part of the efforts towards realising such a strike.
