మంగళవారం ఫిబ్రవరి 10వ తేదీన మజ్దూర్ బిగుల్ కార్యకర్తలు విశాఖపట్నం దగ్గర్లోని పరవాడ ఫార్మా సెజ్‌లో లేబర్ కోడ్స్ వ్యతిరేక ప్రచారం నిర్వహించారు.
ఈ లేబర్ కోడ్స్, స్వాతంత్ర్యం వచ్చిన తరువాత కార్మిక, ఉద్యోగ హక్కులపై జరుగుతున్న అతిపెద్ద దాడి అని వివరించారు. నూట యాభై ఏళ్ళ క్రితం కార్మికులు ప్రాణాలర్పించి సంపాదించుకున్న ఎనిమిది గంటల పని హక్కుతో సహా ప్రతీ హక్కునూ ఈ లేబర్ కోడ్‌లు నాశనం చేస్తున్నాయన్నారు. ఈరోజు ఈ లేబర్ కోడ్‌ల అమలును కనుక అడ్డుకోకపోతే రాబోయే తరాల భవిష్యత్తు అంధకారం అవుతుందన్నారు.
ఈరోజు ఉన్న కార్మిక చట్టాలు కూడా అసంఘటిత రంగ కార్మికులకు వర్తించడం లేదు. కానీ చరిత్రని చూసినప్పుడు, అసంఘటిత రంగ కార్మికులు కూడా సంఘటితం అయ్యి పోరాడినప్పుడు కొద్దిగానైనా ఈ చట్టాలను అమలు చేయించుకోగలిగారని బిగుల్ కార్యకర్తలు వివరించారు. కొత్త లేబర్ కోడ్‌లు కనుక అమలులోకి వస్తే ఈ హక్కులు పేపర్ పై కూడా మిగలవని, కార్మికులు ఒకవేళ సంఘటితం అయినా పోరాడేందుకు ఎటువంటి హక్కులూ మిగలవన్నారు.
కార్యకర్తలు కార్మికులకు కరపత్రాలు పంచుతూ ఈ విషయాలు వివరిస్తుండగా కంపెనీల యాజమాన్యాలు సెక్యూరిటీ ద్వారా పదేపదే అడ్డుపడ్డాయి. ఈ ప్రాంతంలో కరపత్రాలు పంచడం నిషేధం అంటూ కార్యకర్తలను పంపించివేసే ప్రయత్నాలు చేశారు. సమాజంలో వ్యక్తులుగా మన సమస్యల గురించి మాట్లాడుకునే కనీస ప్రజాస్వామిక హక్కును కూడా సెజ్‌లు దూరం చేస్తున్నాయని, ఈ లేబర్ కోడ్‌లు కనుక అమలయితే సెజ్ ల్లోనే కాక దేశం మొత్తం ఇలాంటి పరిస్థితులే ఏర్పడే ప్రమాదం ఉంటుందని ఈ సందర్భంగా బిగుల్ కార్యకర్తలు కార్మికులకు, ఉద్యోగులకు వివరించారు.
ఫిబ్రవరి 12న జరగనున్న సార్వత్రిక సమ్మెకు సాధ్యమైనన్ని విధాలుగా మద్దతునివ్వాలని కార్మికులకు విజ్ఞప్తి చేశారు. ప్రయివేటీకరణ, కాంట్రాక్టీకరణ విధానాలకు వ్యతిరేకంగా ముప్పయ్యేళ్ళుగా చేస్తూ వచ్చిన ఒక్కరోజు సమ్మెలు తమ లక్ష్యాలను చేరుకోలేకపోయాయని, ఇప్పుడు కూడా ప్రభుత్వం ఒక్కరోజు సమ్మెను సీరియస్ గా తీసుకోవడం లేదనీ అన్నారు. లేబర్ కోడ్ లను తిప్పికొట్టడానికి నిరవధిక సార్వత్రిక సమ్మె ఒక్కటే మార్గమని వివరించారు.

On Tuesday, February 10, Mazdoor Bigul activists carried out a campaign opposing the labour codes at the Paravada Pharma SEZ near Visakhapatnam.

Bigul activists explained that these labour codes constitute the biggest attack on workers’ and employees’ rights since Independence. They said the labour codes are destroying every right, including the eight-hour workday that workers won by sacrificing their lives nearly 150 years ago. They warned that if the implementation of these labour codes is not stopped today, the future of coming generations will be pushed into darkness.
They pointed out that even the existing labour laws do not apply to workers in the unorganised sector. However history shows that, when workers organised themselves and struggled, they were at least able to get these laws implemented to some extent. If the new labour codes are implemented, they said, even these rights will not remain on paper, and even if workers organise, they will be left with no rights at all to struggle.
While the activists were explaining these issues to workers and distributing pamphlets, company managements repeatedly obstructed them through security personnel. They tried to drive the activists away, claiming that distributing pamphlets in the area was prohibited. Bigul activists explained to workers and employees that SEZs are taking away even our basic democratic right, as individuals in the society, to discuss our problems, and that if these labour codes are implemented, there is a danger that such conditions will arise not only in SEZs but across the entire country.
They appealed to workers to extend all possible support to the February 12 general strike. They said that one-day strikes carried out over the past thirty years against privatisation and contractualisation policies have failed to achieve their goals, and that even now the government is not taking one-day strikes seriously. They explained that the only way to defeat the labour codes is through an indefinite general strike.
