बेर्टोल्ट ब्रेष्ट (1898-1956): जर्मनी के प्रसिद्ध मार्क्सवादी साहित्य चिन्तक, नाटककार और कवि।
कसीदा इंक़लाबी के लिए
अक्सर वे बहुत अधिक हुआ करते हैं
वे ग़ायब हो जाते, बेहतर होगा।
लेकिन वह ग़ायब हो जाये, तो उसकी कमी खलती है।
वह संगठित करता है अपना संघर्ष
मजूरी, चाय-पानी
और राज्यसत्ता की ख़ातिर।
वह पूछता है सम्पत्ति से:
कहाँ से आई हो तुम?
जहाँ भी ख़ामोशी हो
वह बोलेगा
और जहाँ शोषण का राज हो
और क़िस्मत की बात की जाती हो
वह उँगली उठायेगा।
जहाँ वह मेज पर बैठता है
छा जाता है असन्तोष मेज पर
ज़ायका बिगड़ जाता है
और कमरा तंग लगने लगता है।
उसे जहाँ भी भगाया जाता है,
विद्रोह साथ जाता है और जहाँ से उसे भगाया जाता है
असन्तोष रह जाता है।
कसीदा द्वंद्ववाद के लिए
बढ़ती जाती है नाइन्साफ़ी आज सधे क़दमों के साथ।
ज़ालिमों की तैयारी है दस हज़ार साल की।
हिंसा ढाढ़स देती है: जैसा है, रहेगा वैसा ही।
सिवाय हुक़्मरानों के किसी की आवाज़ नहीं
और बाज़ार में लूट की चीख:
शुरुआत तो अब होनी है।
पर लूटे जाने वालों में से बहुतेरे कहने लगे हैं
जो हम चाहते हैं वो कभी होना नहीं।
गर ज़िन्दा हो अब तलक़, कहो मत: कभी नहीं
जो तय लगता है, वो तय नहीं है।
जैसा है, वैसा नहीं रहेगा।
जब हुक़्मरान बोल चुके होंगे
बारी आयेगी हुक़्म निभाने वालों की।
किसकी हिम्मत है कहने की: कभी नहीं?
ज़िम्मेदार कौन है, अगर लूट जारी है? हम ख़ुद।
किसकी ज़िम्मेदारी है कि वो ख़त्म हो? ख़ुद हमारी।
जिसे कुचला गया उसे उठ खड़े होना है।
जो हारा, उसे लड़ते रहना है।
अपनी हालत जिसने पहचानी, रोकेगा कौन उसे?
फिर आज जो पस्त हैं कल होगी उनकी जीत
और कभी नहीं के बजाय गूँजेगा: आज अभी।
कसीदा कम्युनिज़्म के लिए
यह तर्कसंगत है, हर कोई इसे समझता है। यह आसान है।
तुम तो शोषक नहीं हो, तुम इसे समझ सकते हो।
यह तुम्हारे लिए अच्छा है, इसके बारे में जानो।
बेवक़ूफ इसे बेवक़ूफी कहते हैं और गन्दे लोग इसे गन्दा कहते हैं।
यह गन्दगी के ख़िलाफ़ है और बेवक़ूफी के ख़िलाफ़।
शोषक इसे अपराध कहते हैं।
लेकिन हमें पता है:
यह उनके अपराध का अन्त है।
यह पागलपन नहीं
पागलपन का अन्त है।
यह पहेली नहीं है
बल्कि उसका हल है।
यह तो आसान सी चीज़ है
जिसे हासिल करना मुश्किल है।
In Praise of the Revolutionary
Many are too much
When they leave, it is better so
But when he goes, he is missed.
He organises his struggle
For wage-pennies, for tea-water
And for taking over power.
He asks property:
What is your origin ?
He asks the viewpoints:
Whom do you serve ?
Wherever there is a hush
He will speak out
Wherever there is oppression, and the talk is of fate
He will call things by their right names.
Where he sits down on the table
There sits also dissatisfaction
The food is perceived to be awful
And the room too narrow.
Wherever they chase him away
Turmoil follows, and at the hunting place
Unrest remains.
In Praise of Dialectic
Today injustice goes with a certain stride,
The oppressors move in for ten thousand years.
Force sounds certain: it will stay the way it is.
No voice resounds except the voice of the rulers.
And on the markets, exploitation says it out loud:
I am only just beginning.
But of the oppressed, many now say:
What we want will never happen.
Whoever is alive must never say ‘never’!
Certainty is never certain.
It will not stay the way it is.
When the rulers have already spoken
Then the ruled will start to speak.
Who dares say ‘never’?
Who’s to blame if repression remains? We are.
Who can break its thrall? We can.
Whoever has been beaten down must rise to his feet!
Whoever is lost must fight back!
Whoever has recognized his condition—how can anyone stop him?
Because the vanquished of today will be tomorrow’s victors
And ‘never’ will become: ‘already today’!
In Praise of Communism
It is reasonable. You can grasp it. It’s simple.
You’re no exploiter, so you’ll understand.
It is good for you. Look into it.
Stupid men call it stupid, and the dirty call it dirty.
It is against dirt and against stupidity.
The exploiters call it a crime.
But we know:
It is the end of all crime.
It is not madness but
The end of madness.
It is not chaos,
But order.
It is the simple thing
That’s hard to do.
